Finding a Tattoo Design with YOU in Mind

Getting a tattoo becomes a permanent part of who you are---and will be---in the future.

Getting a tattoo is not the same as getting a piercing and you should take the time to consider:

1. Tattoos are PERMANENT.
2. Tattoos can be expensive to remove.
3. Tattoos take time and care to heal.
4. A tattoo may not say who you are 20 years from now.

This is why people take months or even years to contemplate what type of tattoo design they want before getting inked. The next steps are finding the right tattoo design, figuring out where you want the tattoo to go on your body, and locating the tattoo artist that will do a good job.

1. Become a Member of a Tattoo Forum

Before you do anything else, become a member (free) of an online tattoo forum. By far, this is the best way to find tattoo designs, tattoo artists, and tattoo answers to questions.

Searching for tattoo designs online using Google is NOT the way to go.

A tattoo is very personal. Think about it: do you want the same tattoo design everyone else is running around with?

Think about the reasons you want a tattoo and avoid getting one because friends have one; chances are, trendy tattoo designs will age you down the line. If you got a tattoo design of a peace sign in the 70’s, it could look pretty silly in 2010 and clearly state how old you are.

Take the time to research your tattoo design to make sure it expresses who you are now---and will be forever.
